Babaudus, formerly situated in the Charente Departement, was one of several small villages that underwent administrative reorganisation in the early 19th century, leading to its incorporation into the Haute-Vienne. This village boasted various amenities such as its own school (now transformed into a children's holiday center), a blacksmith shop, and a bakery. Le Campagnard, the local bar and restaurant, resided within the village. The oldest section of the building, originating from the late 18th century, served as a shelter and arms depot for the local French resistance during World War Two. Maintaining its popularity as a gathering place, Le Campagnard was owned and operated by the same local family for over a century until the 1960s. Following changes in ownership and a period of closure, extensive renovations have taken place to reopen Le Campagnard as a Chambres d'Hotes (bed and breakfast) with a Licensed Restaurant for guests.
