Located along the Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana, this place offers incredible natural beauty and is an ideal environment for rural tourism. The century-old farmhouse, along with its barn and stables, has been transformed into five comfortable self-catering apartments. The restoration work aimed to preserve the architectural style of the Algarve.

The apartments are fully equipped with a kitchenette, utensils, linens, toiletries, duvets, wood, and climatization. Every detail has been taken care of to make you feel at home.

There is a front yard that serves as a common area, where you can enjoy an aperitif, have a barbecue, or simply relax in the shade of the porch. The apartments are spread across different floors, with varying capacities ranging from 2 to 6 people.

We also offer airport pick-up and transportation from the train or bus stations. Please inquire about the acceptance of pets.

The location of our establishment is in a picturesque area of tourist interest, close to the beach and natural networks.

We offer various activities such as gymkhanas, bicycle rentals, guided walks, 4x4 excursions, mountain monitoring for children, activities related to horses, and shuttle service from the airport and/or bus/train stations.

Nature enthusiasts can enjoy activities like birdwatching, harvesting espargues, farming, hiking, and walking tours in national parks or free landscapes. For adventure seekers, we offer activities such as canoeing, paintball, trekking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, golf, and cycling.

In terms of leisure and culture, we organize collaborative activities, children's activities, cultural tours, visits to scenic spots, and guided walks to discover the region. We also have horse rentals available.

Our establishment is located in Castro Marim, a small town in the Algarve region near the Spanish border. It offers a tranquil and charming experience of rural life, just a short distance from the beautiful beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

The houses have been carefully renovated to preserve their traditional architecture, using traditional materials such as sugar cane, lime, wood, stone, tile, and wool for insulation. Environmental preservation has been a priority, with a wastewater treatment system that purifies water for reuse in the garden.

The Houses of the Old Haystack consist of five accommodations, including three bedrooms and two suites. Each room is equipped with double beds, and the suites also have a mezzanine and a lounge with a kitchenette. All spaces have TV, air conditioning, and private bathrooms with showers. Guests can also enjoy the breakfast room, garden, pool, barbecue area, and parking facilities.

The surroundings offer a peaceful and well-preserved natural area with beautiful views. You can observe agricultural workers and grazing fields, providing a glimpse into rural life. We are located just a few minutes away from two golf courses, the Beliche dam, and the beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

To access our location, you can fly to Faro airport and take the A22 towards Spain. Take the last exit before the International Guadiana Bridge and follow the IC 27, then the EN 122 to Junqueira, near Montes Castelhanos, where you will find the Casas do Palheiro Velho.

Activities in the area include biking, hiking, birdwatching, canoeing, beach activities, golfing, visiting the medieval castle, boating, exploring the dams, and enjoying the Guadiana River.
