Nestled in the captivating lands of the Marquisate, amidst the rich history and enchanting legends, stands the majestic Mt Viso. This imposing "stone king" has captivated the hearts of travelers throughout the ages. Located in the Occitan territory, this remarkable region boasts the Po valley, where Italy's longest river originates.

This land is adorned with castles, abbeys, and monasteries, bearing witness to its intriguing past. The ancient mule tracks and dirt roads that traverse this territory were once frequented by monks, merchants, knights, and even brigands. Among these paths, the legendary "road of salt" served as a vital route for the transportation of various goods, including salt, anchovies, oil, spices, textiles, and other wares, leading all the way to France.

In this very land, the renowned "Mt Viso hole" was carved out. This irregular tunnel, stretching 75 meters beneath the Traversette col at an altitude of 2882 meters, allowed loaded mules and stooped men to pass through.

Generations of merchants from Dauphiné, Provence, and Burgundy journeyed through the Alps, descending the hills and arriving in the plains. Many of these travelers sought respite at the ancient inn run by Virginia, who warmly welcomed them with a smile, a hot meal, and the comforting embrace of a crackling fireplace.

Today, after extensive restoration efforts, the "Virginia" has reopened its doors. Step inside and immerse yourself in the rustic and inviting ambiance of the past, where stone, wood, terracotta, and antique furnishings create an atmosphere that harkens back to simpler times. The warm hues found in each room evoke the essence of rural homes.

Our seven rooms are tastefully furnished with wooden and wrought-iron beds, wardrobes, and desks that pay homage to folk culture. The curtains exude the charm of Occitan boiserie found in ancient mansions.

Spacious common areas have been thoughtfully designed for our guests' enjoyment. A cozy sitting room, a breakfast and dining area, and a library adorned with a crackling fireplace provide the perfect spaces to unwind and relax.

With six double rooms and one triple room, all equipped with en-suite facilities, we ensure your utmost comfort.
