Vallabrègues is a medieval village that is administratively attached to the Languedoc-Roussillon region, but geographically located in Provence. It has absorbed the culture, traditions, and language of Provence. The village holds historical significance as it was the residence of Frédéric Mistral, a renowned poet, writer, and Nobel Prize winner for Literature in 1906. Mistral's novel "Mireille" is set in this charming village, where Vincent, also known as "Vincennes," a basket maker and lover of Mireille, resided. Vallabrègues has a rich history dating back to the Bronze Age and was known as a village of weavers until the 1960s. The village celebrates its weaving heritage with a grand festival every second weekend of August.

Located in the heart of the medieval village, our accommodation offers a charming and tranquil setting with narrow streets and a refreshing atmosphere. You can enjoy the typical languor of Provencal nights and peaceful naps accompanied by the soothing sound of cicadas. Additionally, famous attractions are within close proximity, all located within a maximum distance of twenty kilometers from Vallabrègues. These attractions include Avignon and its historical sites, St. Remy de Provence and the excavations of the Roman city of Glanum, Les Baux, Fontvieille and the Moulin de Daudet, the Abbey of Montmajour, Arles la Romaine with its prestigious ancient past, Tarascon and the castle of King Rene, Beaucaire and its medieval castle, as well as the magnificent Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard.

Maravillosa estancia
Review by: Maria José, Mai 7 2017 9:56PM
