Description:

Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the ones we have lost," stated M. Proust. However, one cannot truly understand this sentiment without venturing outside of their own home.

Dating back to the eighteenth century, the country villa "Il Palazzotto" was originally a farm in an Etruscan village nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Sienese hills. Surrounded by cypress trees, castles, farms, olive groves, and vineyards, this location is a mere 30 km from Siena, allowing for easy exploration of the enchanting sights of Tuscany. The region is known for producing the renowned Brunello di Montalcino wine and is situated along the historic "Via Francigena," an ancient road from France to Rome, dotted with villages and monasteries.

With 6 comfortable double rooms and 6 bathrooms, our villa can accommodate up to 12 people. On the ground floor, guests will find a spacious living room, a large lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen, all opening onto a panoramic terrace that overlooks a beautiful garden adorned with flowers and plants, including a wisteria pergola. (A video of the villa can be found on Youtube under the title "It Palazzotto Siena.")

Here, guests can enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in close contact with nature, while admiring the breathtaking panorama that Leonardo da Vinci himself held dear. Additionally, there is another delightful terrace at a higher level, complete with a swimming pool and a well-designed sundeck.

The property spans across 42 acres of woods and Mediterranean vegetation, housing a rich variety of flora and fauna, preserved as part of a natural park with green trails.

At "Il Palazzotto," we strive to provide our guests with a unique experience, offering the expertise of the owner and a qualified staff who are available to assist with any needs, such as providing information about nearby cities, roads, farms, and castles. Our utmost attention is dedicated to the kitchen, where guests can indulge in the flavors of the region and savor typical local dishes prepared by the owner, including Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, pecorino cheese from Pienza, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli cookies, and panforte cake, among others.

This historic house has been meticulously restored and renovated while preserving the traditional Tuscan style. The ground floor features a living room and a lounge with two fireplaces, creating a cozy atmosphere for relaxation. Guests also have access to a telephone, fax, and internet connection. From the ground floor, one can step out onto the garden terrace or ascend to the first floor, where six bedrooms await. In the elegant dining room, adorned with antique furniture, a large table comfortably accommodates up to 14 people.

On the first floor, guests will find six spacious bedrooms, tastefully furnished by the owner with high-quality furniture. Each room offers splendid views, with the corner rooms boasting private bathrooms equipped with showers, bidets, and modern amenities. All rooms feature a double bed, and one of them includes an additional single bed. The two central rooms boast canopy beds, while the other two have twin beds. A shared bathroom with a shower is located down the hall, and an additional bathroom is available on the ground floor.

Thanks to its central location, "Il Palazzotto" serves as an ideal base for exploring Florence, Siena, and their surroundings. Moreover, within just an hour or so, one can easily reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi and Perugia. Rome is also a mere 200 km away from our villa.

Our region is renowned for its rich history and natural beauty. Florence represents the epitome of the Renaissance, Siena is a beacon of Gothic architecture, and Etruscan and Roman influences are prominent throughout the area. The towns of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni are also highly recommended for exploration. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add a special charm to your itinerary. Places such as the Abbey of St. Antimo in Montalcino, with its enchanting Gregorian chants, the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, adorned with Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli, and the mystical ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano, are just a few examples of the extraordinary sites that complete your visit to the region. The unique and diverse landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields, with colors that change with the passing seasons, will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression in your memory, just as Proust would suggest.
