Description:

Description for B&B:

Les Eaux Tranquilles is located in the beautiful Gorge la Pierre-Lys, which has recently been designated as an area of outstanding beauty. Situated at an elevation of 320 meters above sea level, we are on the outskirts of the charming village of Belvianes et Cavirac, just 200 meters below the winter snow line. Our location makes us the perfect choice for both summer and winter vacations. Additionally, we are conveniently positioned between the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan, with a 40 and 50-minute drive respectively to their airports, which offer flights to the UK, Belgium, and Ireland.

Our aim is to create a welcoming and relaxing environment where guests can escape the stresses of everyday life. Our private park, bordered by the tranquil river Aude, provides a sanctuary where guests can unwind on our terrace or by the riverside, enjoying a bottle of wine while listening to the soothing sounds of the river.

During the summer months, we often host barbeques on our terrace, allowing our friends and guests to mingle and soak up the delightful ambiance of the Pyrenees mountains.

Just 4 kilometers north of us is the town of Quillan, easily accessible via the D117 road. Quillan offers a variety of restaurants, bars, shops, banks, a railway station with links to Carcassonne and beyond, a coach station with links to Carcassonne and Perpignan, a tourist office open all year round, and a main post office. The town also hosts outdoor concerts in its squares during the summer and welcomes an international folk festival for two weeks in July. Belvianes also enjoys its own three-day fete with live music and entertainment.

The surrounding area is rich in vineyards and caves where visitors can sample and purchase local wines. A short drive away is the town of Limoux, renowned for its production of Blanquette, the first sparkling wine in France predating champagne.

The ancient Cité of Carcassonne, famous for its spires that inspired Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty, is only a 50-minute drive away. In July, the Cité hosts a magnificent fireworks display that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Our grounds encompass a large private park of 0.75 hectares (2 acres) bordered by the river Aude. The river, known for its abundance of trout and salmon, has even been visited by Robert Redford, who stayed nearby and was inspired by its beauty to turn a book about it into a world-famous film, "A River Runs Through It." Additionally, every other year, the Tour de France passes at the top of our road.

Just a short three-minute walk from us is our local Auberge, where reasonably priced meals are offered, and outdoor seating is available during the summer. It's a perfect spot to relax, dine, and watch the Tour de France.

There are several picturesque lakes nearby where guests can swim or have a picnic. As we are located in the South of France, it only takes an easy hour and a half drive to reach the stunning Mediterranean beaches, which are known for their long sandy shores and the absence of high-rise hotels commonly found in Spanish resorts. Guests can also explore the coast road to Spain and visit charming French fishing villages nestled in small bays. They can even bring back fresh fish to cook on our barbeque, enjoying it with an excellent bottle of Languedoc Roussillon wine in the evening.

We truly believe in providing the highest level of customer service, ensuring that every guest has an enjoyable stay with us, whether for one night or two weeks. Don't just take our word for it, take a look at the comments from our previous guests to see what they have to say.

We welcome guests from all nationalities and offer secure parking in our grounds, as well as a secure garage for touring motorcycles and cyclists, who are always welcome.

séjour d'une semaine aux Eaux Tranquilles
Review by: Michelle et Philippe Delaporte , Juil 31 2017 4:50PM
Accueil très aimable de Monsieur Kenway. Chambres très calmes et agréables avec literie de bonne qualité. Service efficace. Bons petits-déjeuners et dîners. Beau parc paysagé en bordure de l' Aude.

Directions

Directions from the north:
- If you are driving all the way, take the Autoroute A61 to Carcassonne and exit at Junction 23. Then follow the signs to Limoux, which will be on the D118 road.

- If you are coming from the airport, turn left out of the airport, unless directed otherwise by the French chap in front. In that case, turn right and go up to the roundabout to turn around. Just past the airport on your left, there will be a right turn with a sign to Limoux. Follow the signs to Limoux, passing the Autoroute junction 23 along the way.

- Drive straight through Limoux in the direction of Quillan on the D118 road. When you reach the first traffic lights in Quillan, you will be 4km away from our B&B. Continue straight at the first set of lights, and the road number will change to D117 (although you may not notice). At the second set of lights, continue straight. After about 2km, you will see a large panel on the right with the name "Les Eaux Tranquilles." Keep going and you will pass the Auberge du Chalet on the right. Our B&B is the next left turn, clearly signposted with Les Eaux Tranquilles.

Directions from the south:
- Unfortunately, we cannot put up signposts in this area due to its outstanding natural beauty. Therefore, you must drive down the D117 road to Axat. At the roundabout in Axat, which features life-size sculptures of local bears, go straight over and enter the gorge. Drive cautiously, not exceeding 50kph, as there are sharp bends. As you exit the gorge, you will see a large car park on the right, followed by a staggered crossroads marked Cavirac to the right and Belvianes to the left. Continue for about 50 meters and then turn right. There will be signs with Les Eaux Tranquilles on the corner.

If you get lost or encounter any problems, please give us a call.
